MarkWeinberger，安永全球董事長兼首席執(zhí)行官。Mark現(xiàn)年54歲，無論在安永內外都有著卓越的業(yè)績。早前，Mark還曾擔任美國總統(tǒng)喬治·W·布什政府的美國財政部助卿（稅務政策）一職，此外克林頓總統(tǒng)還曾任命他擔任美國社會保障咨詢委員會成員。

這是一封EY安永CEOMarkWeinberger給22歲年輕人的信，正在迷茫掙扎的年輕人們，值得一讀！

當我剛進入凱斯西儲大學（CaseWesternReserveUniversity）法學院和管理學院的時候，我的表現(xiàn)沒有那么突出，教授可能都不會記得我。如果能重回22歲，我會告訴那時候的自己：通往成功和幸福的路不止一條。

當然，非常高的學分績是一個值得的目標和重要成就，但學會如何學習、學習如何找到自己真正的熱情比你學到的東西本身更為重要。最終，你所擁有的人際關系、你的經驗和你冒過的風險對于你取得什么樣的個人成就更為重要。

讓我來講講，從法學院和商學院畢業(yè)之后我做了什么：

沒學過政治學，但我在政府工作了10年；

沒有實踐經驗，但我創(chuàng)辦了自己的律師事務所；

雖然從前的身份是律師和經濟學家，但現(xiàn)在我管理著一家國際專業(yè)服務型企業(yè)。

若你22歲

你從中看到什么模式或道理嗎？以下是我給現(xiàn)在22歲左右的人提出的建議：

1）對各種可能性保持開放態(tài)度

你是自己人生的CEO（YouaretheCEOofyourownlife）。邁出校門之后，要去哪里只有你自己才能決定，所以，請對各種可能性保持開放的心態(tài)，并做好準備。在學校打下的基礎能發(fā)揮的作用超乎你的想象。

我不斷嘗試著冒險，去挑戰(zhàn)各種事情。不要因為學歷、學位或其他條條框框就感到被限制。在當代社會，更必要的技能是批判性思考，敢于迎接你可能遇到的各種挑戰(zhàn)，構建你的理論、立場和觀點，并且堅持下去。

諸位即將從事的工作可能10年前壓根還不曾存在。在這個瞬息萬變的世界里摸爬滾打，最重要的事就是終身學習。不要畏懼任何事情，即使是那些全新的或是全然未知的事。只有這樣，當重要機遇真的來臨，你才能抓住機會。

2）顯示會找到你的極限，而你要為自己尋找機會

當今社會機遇眾多，前所未有。世界五百強中有147家都屬于新興行業(yè)，9年前這個數字還不到50家。如今存在的近90%的數據都是這兩年內創(chuàng)造的。

世界在變化，而且變得很快。沒有時間留給人們去考慮邊界在哪里。未來不是由那些整天想著限制和規(guī)范的人創(chuàng)造。關注未來發(fā)展趨勢，尋找改善的可能，自己去尋

找機會，去贏得一席之地。沒有任何人會替你做這些。

3）找到平衡，遵守諾言

盡管你很關注自己能否在會議桌旁占據重要位置，但是餐桌邊的位置也一樣重要。歸根結底，生活和家人還是比工作更重要。這是一件好事，但是我也必須跟你們說實話，這也是件難事。不管你選擇了什么，患得患失是人性的一部分。這也是為什么你要學會在工作和家庭間找到平衡。

我曾在中國參加一個高層會議，我為這個會議準備了很久，想給人們留下好印象。完成演講回答過一個問題后，我有點猶豫，因為我答應了女兒要去陪她參加

駕照考試?？紤]了一番，我下定決心告訴大家我必須提前離開。沒有人記得那天我做了什么演講，但是我收到了很多封郵件贊許我遵守了對女兒的承諾。

我熱愛這份工作，這是我最好的機會之一。但當我被任命為CEO時，我提出了一個條件：不管到世界哪個角落出差，我必須每個周末都回家。

平衡生活和工作是很重要的。不管事業(yè)發(fā)展得多快，你都要不時放慢腳步想想到底什么對你才是重要的。如果工作沒有給你留下足夠的時間空間和家人在一起，那么你最好停下來，另尋他路。

4）永遠不要忘本

最后一條建議也可能是最好的一條，這是從我爸爸那里學到的。不管我走到哪里，或是取得了怎樣的成就，他總是會說，“Mark，不要忘記你是誰，你從哪里來?！?/p>

每次我升職的時候都會打電話給他，溫馨祝賀之后，他總是會說：“記住，不管你的頭銜是什么，我都一樣愛你?！睂ξ襾碚f，這些話遠比我的成就還重要。

不要忘記自己是誰，也不要忘記幫助過自己的人。保持這種謙遜明智的心態(tài)可以幫助你走到事業(yè)的新高度。

現(xiàn)在22歲左右的年輕人面臨著嶄新的世界，科技更先進，社交也更頻繁?，F(xiàn)在的你只需要去工作、去冒險，去發(fā)掘潛力，然后去開拓精彩的人生。所以，要勇敢地向前走、把握機會。我迫不及待的想看到你們這一代人會創(chuàng)造什么。

Iworkedhardatgraduateschool,andIenjoyedmytimethere.Buthere’swhatIwouldtellmy22-year-oldselfbackthen:Thereismorethanonepathtoasuccessfulcareerandasatisfyinglife.

Don’tgetmewrong:AhighGPAisaworthygoalandgreatachievement.But,learninghowyoulearn,andwhatyourpassionis,ismoreimportantthanwhatyoulearn.Attheendoftheday,yourrelationships,experiencesandtherisksyoutakearegoingtohaveanequalorgreaterimpactonyouraplishments.

Stayopentoeverypossibility

YouaretheCEOofyourownlife.Youcanchartyourownpath.Onlyyoucandecidewhereyougoonceyouwalkoutofschool,sostayopentoeverypossibility–becauseschoolhaspreparedyoutodomorethanyoucanimagine.

Ihaveconstantlytriedtochallengemyselftotakeonnewrisksandexperiences.Mylessonisdon’tfeellimitedbythedegreeyou’vereceived.Thekindofskillsthataremorenecessaryinthiscenturyaretheabilitytothinkcritically,totakeonanychallengethatesyourway,toconstructanargument–andstickbyit.

Withinafewyears,manyofyouwillbeworkingjobsthatdidn’tevenexistadecadeago.Remember,youmaychangeyourcareerentirelyseveraltimes.Andthat’sexciting.

Asyou’retravelingthroughthischangingworld,themostimportantthingyoucandoistokeeplearningyourwholelife.Andneverbeafraidofanything,evenifit’stotallyneworpletelyunknown.Thatway,whenyourbigopportunityesalong,you’llbereadytoseizeit.

Theworldwillfindyourlimitations.Onlyyouwillfindyouropportunities

Thisisaworldwithmoreopportunitiesavailabletoyouthananypreviousgeneration.It’saworldwhere147oftheFortune500paniesareheadquarteredinemergingmarkets.Nineyearsago,itwasfewerthan50.It’saworldwhere90percentofallthedatathatexistswascreatedinthepasttwoyears.

Theworldischanging,andit’schangingfast.Thisisnotimetothinkaboutlimits.

Thefutureisnevermadebythosewhofocusonlimitations.Itismadebypeoplewhofocusonpossibilities.Historyismadebypeoplewhounderstandthattheymightnotbeabletocontrolalloftheircircumstances–buttheycancontroltheirattitude.

Whenyouwalkintoaroom,bringpossibilitieswithyou.Don’tbeapersonwhoonlythinksofthedownside,whosuckslifeoutoftheroom.Noonewantsthatpersonattheirtable.Sogooutthere,pursuedifferentopportunitiesandfindyourseatatthetable.Nooneelsewilldoitforyou.

Findbalance,keepyourmitments

Asmuchasyoufocusonyourseatattheconferencetable,yourseatatthedinnertableisjustasimportant.Eventuallyyou’regoingtobuildlivesandfamiliesthatmattertoyoumorethananyjob.That’sagoodthing;it’sthebestthing.ButI’mnotgoingtolietoyou;it’salsotough.

Nomatterwhatyoudoinlife,it'shumannaturetothinkaboutwhatyou'renotdoingsomewhereelse.That’swhyIbelievesostronglyinfindingabalancebetweenyourworklifeandyourhomelife.

IwasatoneofmyfirstleadershipmeetingsinChinagivingaspeechthatIhadpreparedhardfor.Iwasalittlenervous,andwantedtomakeagoodimpression.Inansweringaquestion,IhadtoadmitthatIwasleavingthemeetingearlybecauseIhadanothermitment:Mydaughterwastakingherdrivingtest,andI’dpromisedtobethere.Ileftthemeeting,gotonaplaneandmadeithometotakehertothetest.(Yes,shepassed.)Noonerememberedmygreatspeechthatday,butIreceivedhundredsofemailsadmiringmydecisiontokeepmymitmenttomydaughter.

Ilovemyjob,andit’sbeenoneofmymosthumblingopportunities.ButwhenIwaschosenasCEO,Ihadacondition:NomatterwhereIamintheworld,Ineedtobehomeeveryweekend.

Findingthatbalancebetweenyourcareerandtherestofyourlifeiscrucial.Nomatterhowfastyourcareerismoving,youneedtostopoccasionallyandevaluatewhatreallymatterstoyou.Ifthelifeyou’rebuildingdoesn’tleaveenoughroomforthepeopleandthingsthatyoulove,thenyouneedtostopandchangecourse.

Neverforgetwhoyouareorwhereyoucamefrom

Mylastadviceisalsomybestadvice.It’ssomethingIlearnedfrommydad.NomatterwhereIwentorwhatIachieved,healwayssaidthesamething:“Mark,neverforgetwhoyouareorwhereyoucamefrom.”

WheneverIgotapromotion,Iwouldcallhim,andhewouldcongratulateme.Butthenhewouldsay,'Remember:Iloveyounomatterwhatyourtitleis.'Tome,thosewordsweremoreimportantthananyachievement.Theymeantitall.

Don’tforgetwhoyouareandwhohelpedgetyoutothispoint.Maintainingthatuniqueperspectivewillhelpyoucontinuetoreachnewheightsasyoubuildyourcareer.

Finalthoughts

Today’s22-yearoldsareworldlier,moretechnologicallyadvanced,moreconnectedandmoresociallyawarethananybefore.You’velivedwithalmostnobarriersrestrictingyouraccesstoinformation,peopleornations–andyouwon’tletanybarriersrestrictyoursuccess,either.

Theingredientsforsuccessarealreadyinyourhands.Nowyoujustneedtowork–andtakerisks–toseizeallthatpotentialandbuildanincrediblelife.Younowhaveagreatopportunitytomakeyourimprintonhistory.So,please,gooutthereandtakethischance.Infact,takealotofchances.Ican’twaittoseewhatyourgenerationdoesnext.
